The Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland; it is celebrated around the world (often with great gusto).
The major Celtic holidays of the year, also known as "cross-quarter festivals" are Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh and Samhain; these historically sacred festival days were a time to celebrate significant seasonal events and fell almost exactly between each two of the four main solar events.
These turning points of the year were the Winter Solstice (around 21st Dec), the Spring Equinox (around 21st Mar), the Summer Solstice (around 21st Jun) and the Autumnal (Fall) Equinox (around 21st September).
